The new financial year is a good time to think about fresh initiatives that can help improve the performance of your organisation.  However, if you want your ideas to succeed you also need to manage the time involved. Don’t give your team more assignments without taking some work away first.   Your team is a finite resource and if you just give them more to do many will end up feeling stressed, and overworked, which will reduce their effectiveness and ultimately be counterproductive.

Instead, work with them to identify how time can be freed up by eliminating, consolidating or streamlining current activities to allow them time to take on the new projects.

In addition agree clear priorities, so that your team knows when the pressure is on what’s important and what can wait.
