Your team is a finite resource and if you just give them more to do many will end up feeling stressed, and overworked, which will reduce their effectiveness and ultimately be counterproductive.
Instead, work with them to identify how time can be freed up by eliminating, consolidating or streamlining current activities to allow them time to take on the new projects.
